I will respect the ocean and others and give respect to gain respect
I will welcome visitors to my town, remind them that they will be expected to return the hospitality and they will abide by the surfers code of ethics
I will not name secret spots
I will sit out the back in the lineup where the best waves are and take off on the peak no matter how big or intimidating the conditions are
I will endeavor to purchase a surfboard over 7ft in order to paddle into big waves
If I am intimidated by big waves, I will seek guidance from more experienced surfers to over come the fear
I will only grovel on the shore break when I need a score in the dying minutes of a heat, am experimenting with new moves or trying to get artistic photos
I will never forget where I am from and will represent my town with honesty and integrity in all aspects of my life
I will release all old ties with previous boardriding clubs
Once a member of MRBC I will never become a sell-out and join another rival club
I will instigate healthy rivalries between my peers and other boardriding clubs
I agree every dog has his day and blokes reserve the right to be the king of the beach (ripping, fit & in tune)
I agree every bird has her day and girls reserve the right to be the queen of the beach (ripping, feminine & attractive)
I will morally support my mates when they need it
I will listen to my mates when they are giving me advice
I will make goals and pursue every available opportunity to achieve those goals
I will strive to be the best in everything that I do
Winning isn’t everything but when I compete I will do everything I can to challenge my peers and better my surfing
I will not feel shame in defeat because I will try my best and do everything I can to achieve my best
When I win I will celebrate for all the hard work that went into winning
When I lose I will congratulate the winner and challenge for a re-match
I understand that hard work and achievement must be rewarded and celebrated
I understand that I cannot win all the time and will be honorable in defeat
I will not get too big for my boots
I will not complain when I am asked to sell hotdogs at club contests
I choose to willingly devote time to the club as much as I can afford without putting myself into financial hardship or jeopordising family or relationships
